RODNEY LORNE HICKS
Suddenly yet peacefully, Rodney Lorne Hicks left us on March 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his daughter and three siblings by his side.
Born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, Rodney spent his later years there after living primarily in Winnipeg, as well as in Thompson, Teulon, and New Westminster, B.C.
A highly skilled and hardworking individual, Rodney held various roles throughout his career, notable ones being with Canada Post, Kimberly-Clark, and MacDon Industries, where he served for several years as Vice President of their employee association.
Rodney enjoyed hands-on work, hunting, fishing, and golf in early life. His more relaxed passions included music, reading, card and board games (Canasta Champ and Scrabble Master), computers, gardening, driving, pondering the galaxies, attending pow-wows, having coffee with friends, and fixing/inventing things. His brilliance understated, he had a remarkable way with both numbers and words. He will be remembered as funny, wise, calm, kind, generous, a problem solver, and present in need.
Rodney was predeceased by his brother Earl; parents Fred and Mary; brothers-in-law Harvey Taylor and Edward Smith; and several extended family members.
He leaves behind his children Amber, Velvet, and Mark; grandchildren Anna and Carson; siblings Linda (Harvey), Stan, Joyce (Edward), Della (Ernie), Alfred, and Gordon (Rhonda); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends-many of whom he considered family. Family meant everything to Rodney, and his love will live on through the cherished memories and stories he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a monetary or voluntary donation to Cancer Care Manitoba.
A private interment will be held for family, followed by two Celebrations of Life.
